Wrestlemania 33 REcreated: Runners-Up & the Honourable Mentions

So we are days away from the “Showcase of the Immortals”. This is something that as wrestling fans we wait for yearly. It not only concludes our year (or “season” if you will) but within 24 hours it sets the tone and direction of storylines for the next year. Over the past few posts I have chosen a handful of matches that I tweaked in order to properly conclude open stories but also give us a new direction for the participants. I know there are some matches I have missed. Those matches will be addressed with this post and hopefully I will show you the reader a direction for each wrestler involved. As well as making mention to a few matches I believe we’re missed opportunities.
1. Andre the Giant Battle Royal

This match has now become a staple on the card. As of yet we have not seen this match or its winners getting the hype they deserve. So for this year I believe we should have seen a series of stories intertwined within the match. Examples of this would be the current battles between Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe or even Dolph Ziggler vs Apollo Crews. That way we become invested in this match. As for a winner I would like to see one of the following 3 men win it; Sami Zayn, Braun Stroman or Samoa Joe. Instantly the winner whomever that will be should become a major player on his brand. If they are going to continue this match yearly WWE should invest in it more. We are entering its fourth instalment and it’s already a pre-show match no one is excited for.
2. Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

As I spoke of in my article Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: RAW Tag Title Match the current Tag Team scene of both brands is lacklustre. I would say this is more the case with Smackdown over RAW. American Alpha is a team that has promise and booked right could be a marquee team caring the future of Tag Team Wrestling. So at Elimination Chamber they [American Alpha] defeated every team in a Tag Team Turmoil Match. This solidified them as the top team and clearing the road for a new challenger. That’s where the call up of The Revival from NXT comes in. These are two teams that not only have history but within that history they stole the show (in my opinion) at last years NXT Takeover: Dallas during Wrestlemania Weekend. The booking for this could last months or even be repeated throughout the year. You may even see a triple feud with these teams and The Usos that could be compared to the feud featuring The Hardys, Edge & Christian and The Dudleys during the Attitude Era. Obviously this feud would be more on the technical side.
3. The Intercontinental Championship Match

This match needs very little tweaking as I believe they did an amazing job at the beginning. Once we were past that I felt they dropped the ball. After Baron Corbin made the case of Dean Ambrose taking away every chance of success he had there should have been more substance. I want to see it get really personal. This would also be a perfect chance for Ambrose to reinvent himself as a true lunatic. The more Corbin pushes Ambrose the closer he gets to snapping and then finally have him get very intense during their match. It just seems since loosing the WWE Title Ambrose has resorted to being more of a comedy act than a lunatic. Corbin is the perfect opponent to push Ambrose. Have Ambrose go over at Wrestlemania but Corbin finish the feud on top with the belt at the next PPV.
4. United States Championship Match

Now for any readers out there that have read my post Wrestlemania 33 REcreated: Championships & Legacies you know that I had Sami Zayn win the United States Title at Fastlane with an assist by Kevin Owens in away that had Zayn completely unaware of the assist. The following night on RAW Zayn would come out and call out Mick Foley. He would give a speech about earning his spot in the WWE and wanting to earn his first title win and in conclusion relinquishing the title. Foley would say he understands and would give Sami a chance to win that title fair and square. Stephanie comes out and says Foley doesn’t make this decision because she has already made the decision that there will be an 8-Man tournament culminating at Wrestlemania. This would lead into Sami Zayn facing competition like Mark Henry as well as The Big Show and finding a way to win. On the other side of the bracket Samoa Joe would be demolishing Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. This would lead to Samoa Joe vs Sami Zayn for the United States Title. As for the finish it should be booked to have Sami Zayn fighting with everything he has but at the end Stephanie finds a way to screw him over having Samoa Joe still winning in a big way. This gives Samoa Joe his first belt and at the next PPV Rollins can cost Joe the title giving Zayn the title and setting up a program with Rollins and Samoa Joe.

5. Smackdown Women’s Championship Match

This is the perfect opportunity to push the envelope with the Women’s Revolution. Every year Wrestlemania features a multi-person ladder match and I think this would be a perfect year to leave this one to the women. With RAW’s Women Division slightly overshadowing the Smackdown women this would give them their own spotlight on the grandest stage. This also is such a healthy mix of styles that it gives the opportunity for some amazing spots and a very memorable Wrestlemania moment. With six superstars announced already it wouldn’t be difficult to round up to 8 with the edition of Tamina Snuka and Emma. I would have Alexa Bliss retain with some sort of double cross over Mickie James. I think a program with a veteran like James would truly elevate Bliss further.
6. HHH vs Seth Rollins

I have nothing bad to say about this match or the booking. Reason for this was the unforeseen injury to Rollins. Hypothetically Rollins vs Samoa Joe would have been at Fastlane. If this was the case I would have had a DQ finish with Samoa Joe and HHH brutalizing Rollins. HHH could then make the case on RAW that he has officially ridded the WWE of their “Rollins problem”. Rollins would then come out with a Sledge Hammer taking out Samoa Joe and HHH. He would make a comment how HHH would have to put him on a stretcher permanently to get rid of him setting up for their match at Wrestlemania as a Stretcher Match. Just like their match at Wrestlemania now there would be plenty of violent spots with Rollins ultimately going over strong but finishing with Samoa Joe getting involved.
7. The Undertaker vs Roman Reigns

This is a match that I honestly think has the most possibility. I just feel that it had the possibility of appearing more organic but was rushed. At Fastlane WWE threw away allot of the “monster” build of Stroman with no benefit. The ending could have came with Stroman being dropped by multiple Superman Punches and Spears and right before the pin a gong sounds Reigns is distracted and leads to Stroman taking advantage and finishing Reigns. The next night have Reigns call out the Undertaker and then build it from their. Show The Undertaker clearing getting to Roman Reigns and continue having Hall of Famers warning Reigns. At Wrestlemania have Stroman come out after both men have thrown everything at each other and decimate both men. Because it ends in this way it would lead to Reigns taking the WWE Universal Title and have his rematch with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34 Title vs Career. It would be “Best For Business” if the WWE Universe was made aware of the chance of The Undertaker ending his career at next year’s Wrestlemania. Think about it; James Ellsworth vs Bo Dallas in an Iron Man Match could be your co-main event and you would still sell out if there was a possibility of The Undertaker wrestling his last match on that card.
I want to end this post by wishing all of you a Merry Wrestlemania and a Happy RAW the night after!

Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: Championships & Legacies

I realize these posts are becoming more and more frequent but we are going to witness Wrestlemania 33 within a weeks time. That means I am running out of time to tell all of you how I would make it better. So why not make this post a goodin’ and tweak with Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens as well as the main event of Goldberg vs Brock Lesner. Now there maybe some of you out there damning me for tampering with these but please keep reading because it gets good.
In a previous article [ Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: The Smackdown Shuffle ] I promised to reveal who I would have had win the Royal Rumble match. This scenario is very important to the rest of this post.

The roles these superstars played at Royal Rumble would not be altered too much. As well as #30 being Roman Reigns because it does add heat and will truly make the finish to this Rumble much better. So since Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton are no longer in the final 3 we need to replace them. Filling that void will be The Undertaker and Y2J. If you remember in the original match during Goldberg/Brock Lesner annihilation of the participants Jericho was hit. In my booking he [Chris Jericho] would take this opportunity to slide under the bottom rope and hide under the ring. So when it is only Roman Reigns and The Undertaker in the ring the opportunity for an epic stare down has more meaning then it did in the original Rumble match. They have a light exchange with no big moves. Undertaker wobbly on the ropes. Roman knocks him over with a Superman Punch. Crowd explodes with boos. Just then Jericho rolls in and throws Reigns over. CROWD EXPLODES! And Royal Rumble ends with Jericho posing allowing the fans to drink in the “Gift of Jericho” mannnnn.

So the next two weeks worth of segments on RAW would only be moderately changed. I believe Paul Heyman’s promo challenging Goldberg at Wrestlemania was well executed so I won’t dare touching that. As for JeriKO that first RAW after I would have KO miss RAW and show some distance with Jericho calling and leaving voicemails for KO. He can apologize but tell him [KO] he will explain next week. The next week have KO debut his new show. Jericho comes out and is begging for Kevin to hear him out. He is telling Kevin he is going to ask to challenge for WWE Title that way after he beats whoever that Smackdown Idiot is and he is champion they can be the World Championship Buddies. Goldberg interrupts saying Jericho might want to wait on that because Kevin Owens might not be the champion come Wrestlemania because he just spoke to Stephanie and at Fastlane Owens…YOU’RE NEXT. And Lesner after he is done with Owens and reigning champion he will finish Their dance at Wrestlemania.

Going in to Fastlane JeriKO have seemed to patch things up. Jericho pushing that in case Goldberg wins JeriKO will still main event Wrestlemania.

Two weeks before Fastlane Jericho would defend his United States Championship against Sami Zayn. Owens is in Jericho’s corner. Referee takes a bump. KO takes a chair to Sami Zayn knocking him out then turns to Jericho telling him to get the referee. Jericho turns and Owens hits him with a chair shot and finishes with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. He then lays Zayn on top of Jericho and wakes the ref. 1-2-3 Zayn wins. Zayn is confused as he comes too with his hand lifted as new U.S. Champion (This will be addressed in my next post). Referee helps him to the back and KO continues to beat on Jericho. The week before Fastlane Kevin would deliver his same promo with a few edits. He would say after Goldberg continues the evolution of Kevin Owens he will get rid of the tumour that is Chris Jericho in the MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA.

Fast forward to Fastlane. Same song and dance. Bell rings cue Jericho’s music. Spear followed by Jackhammer. Then as Goldberg goes for a pin Brock Lesner’s music hits and as The Beast stares down Goldberg from the apron a defeated Owens gets to his knee and delivers a desperate low blow. Referee calls for the bell. Goldberg wins by DQ and Owens retains setting up for …

CHRIS JERICHO vs KEVIN OWENS for the WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

As Goldberg lays in the ring Lesner would come down which gives KO an exit opportunity. Lesner stands Goldberg up screaming “I will ruin you” delivers an F-5 to end the PPV. The next night on RAW Goldberg calls out Lesner. Paul Heyman comes out. Gives a promo on how his client will not stop till he has destroyed the legacy of Goldberg. Goldberg says they will settle this at Wrestlemania. Heyman agrees but says Brock Lesner wants to make sure they do so on his client’s behalf he is here to challenge Goldberg to a Career vs Career match at Wrestlemania. Just then Brock runs in from behind but Goldberg ducks and hits Brock with a spear. He then picks up the microphone and says they have a deal which gives us …
GOLDBERG vs BROCK LESNER with their CAREERS ON THE LINE.

These matches book themselves from here. We get 3 weeks of Kevin Owens and Jericho calling each other out. Owens declares Jericho was the anchor and Jericho has the case that he was the only reason Owens is still champion. They could throw personal barbs at each other and even have them interfering in each other’s matches.

With Goldberg and Brock I would promote with interviews and match footage. Week before Wrestlemania they can do a contract signing and end the episode with a stare-down no physical altercation.
The Y2JvsKO Aftermath:

As we all know Chris Jericho has Fozzy plans after Wrestlemania so obviously KO retains. That is not the only reason for this decision though. Since August KO has delivered some of his best work and he can only go up from this. His match with Jericho has the potential of stealing the show. So why not keep that hype on your champion. Belts should reward workers and not benefit part-timers.

Plus that gives a program to Finn Balor when he returns the next night on RAW. Champion versus the Man that didn’t loose his belt.
The GOLDBERGvsLESNER Aftermath:

Without question Lesner takes this match. He retires Goldberg. And here is why; when Lesner beat Undertaker’s streak his stock when up. Add Goldberg’s retirement and Lesner is untouchable. Until WWE have a future talent with the potential to be their next monster. Which can be obtained when that monster stands tall over the defeated Beast. Part-timers should always be a piece in the building of the future.

Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: RAW Tag Title Match

So I think we can all agree that the current climate of Tag Team Wrestling in the WWE has hit a cloudy period. And this isn’t something that has recently happened but has been on a slow decline for many many years. The toughest part with the current scene is there is actually quite a lot of talent but most slip through the cracks unless they are in a title feud.
For this post I will be focussing on the RAW title match. As many of you know at Roadblock: End of the Line The New Day lost their Tag Team Titles to Sheamus and Cesaro this ending their record setting reign. In my booking this will not take place. In fact The New Day will be the champions going in to Wrestlemania. So let’s start this out.
Act One: Hit a Roadblock

So going into Roadblock: End of the Line New Day was becoming very desperate to keep their reign going. There was some shady finishes in their matches with Sheamus and Cesaro. So this will lead to the match at Roadblock. Before the match we discover that Sheamus and Cesaro have been attacked backstage making them unable to compete. On the floor we see 2 ski masks with skull designs on them. Cesaro is out and Sheamus is screaming in pain. Mick Foley doesn’t want to loose a Tag Title Match so he makes the match vs Anderson and Gallows.

Match starts with a very physical New Day. Anderson and Gallows manage a comeback. During the match Michael Cole gives us an update that Cesaro was un esponsive and sent to the hospital while Sheamus is currently being monitored in the back. This match would end when Gallows is on the outside and Sheamus comes down using a crutch and hits Gallows in the back screaming accusations regarding the assault. Match is stopped. Anderson and Gallows win by DQ and New Day is still the champs. After the match Anderson attacks Sheamus followed by a Magic Killer as New Day make their way to the back.
Act 2: Ready to Rumble

Anderson and Gallows meet with Mick Foley. Foley says he has a strong suspicion that it was them that attacked Sheamus and Cesaro butadiene of now he can’t prove it. He says they do have back stage tape they are looking into but nothing concrete yet. Anderson and Gallows remain aloof during this and firm on the fact they didn’t do anything. They continue saying they got screwed by Sheamus and want a rematch for the titles. Mick Foley says ok at the Royal Rumble they will face the New Day, but if the evidence comes back saying they had something to do with the attack they loose their shot.

From that point you book it like you normally would. Involve the 2 teams in singles matches. Tie them into a match with Roman and KO. The week before the Rumble have Cesaro and Sheamus come out. They say they know it was Anderson and Gallows that attacked them and think that them loosing out on their shots is BULL!

This brings us to Royal Rumble. During the pre-show Mick Foley is doing an interview in the back. He is being questioned about any evidence in the attack at Roadblock. Mick says nothing was shown and all we have is the ski masks. Just then you have a producer whisper something in Micks ear (his good one). Mick looks pissed says this interview is over and starts darting off. Cameraman follows Mick leading them to the scene of Anderson and Gallows laying on the ground next to the same ski masks found with Sheamus and Cesaro. Mick leaves them with medics saying he is getting to the bottom this. We cut to the pre-show match. Afterward we see Sheamus and Cesaro walking backstage Mick comes into the room. He flat out accuses them of attacking Gallows and Anderson. Mick goes on saying that there is no proof linking Gallows and Anderson to their [Sheamus/Cesaro] attack. Cesaro is quick to say bring up how Anderson and Gallows got the title shot at Roadblock so they want the shot tonight. Mick is reluctant but wants to do the fair thing so he makes New Day vs Sheamus/Cesaro. During the entrance of Sheamus/Cesaro they are jumped by Anderson and Gallows. While the four brawl New Day is seen just watching and laughing from the ring.
Act 3: Turning on to the Fastlane

Mick Foley comes out saying that he has had enough of Cesaro, Sheamus, Anderson and Gallows. All four men come out and instantly start arguing. He puts the teams in a match for the next RAW. The next week the match starts and quickly spills out on the floor. Referee counts 10 and calls it a draw. Even after the bell the brawling doesn’t stop. So Mick Foley comes out and says he is done with this and they can settle this at Fastlane in a Falls Count Anywhere Tornado Tag Match. Both teams agreed.

Later on that night New Day comes out. They commend Mick Foley for his decision. And since that takes care of the competition they assume they get the next few weeks off. Then Enzo and Cass’ music hits. The crowd pops. Enzo comes out does a promo regarding all the great things to do on time off from work. Enzo then apologizes cause they are going to spoil their [The New Day] day off because they were just talking to Foley and New Day has a match with the badaboom realist guys in the room. Back from a break and they are in midst of the match. New Day is doing everything they can to keep Enzo in the ring. Their tactics are on the shady side but nothing drawing too much attention.

Some how Enzo gets the hot tag leading to Big Cass running through everyone. There is some sort of confusion with Nee Day leading to Enzo/Big Cass getting the win. After the match New Day is seen complaining to Mick Foley about loosing their time off they earned by being the “longest reigning W-W-E Tag Team Champions” (said in the New Day Way). Mick Foley says that he is sorry but Champions should be fighting champions so at Fastlane it will be New Day vs Enzo/Big Cass. New Day seems kind of out of sort. Xavier is about to go off but Kofi/Big E wrangle him in.

This brings us to Fastlane. We start out with the Falls Anywhere match. This would lead to the back. Eventually they get to the locker rooms. Have Anderson/Gallows beating up on Sheamus in the hall Cesaro running splash at everyone. They go slamming into a locker room and there are The New Day in all black holding the ski masks over an knocked out Enzo and Big Cass. There is a staredown that breaks into a huge brawl. Mick Foley and security get involved. Order is restored by taking some superstars out of the building. Foley is frustrated clearly and when approached by an interviewer he says he will address the issue on RAW.
Act 4: Next Stop Wrestlemania

On RAW Foley calls out The New Day to explain themselves. New Day says they don’t need to. They have established themselves as the greatest Tag Team by beating all competitors on their way to DEMOLISHING the record. Foley says that’s right but now your legacy doesn’t reflect that. On top of that you have screwed 3 teams out of their chance at the titles. So at Wrestlemania it will be The New Day vs Enzo/Big Cass vs Sheamus/Cesaro vs Anderson/Gallows in a 4-way Elimination Match for the RAW Tag Team Titles.
The Aftermath:

So the reason why this is booked like this is currently there are two major problems with the RAW tag division;

1. It is way too shallow. Currently there are 5 teams.

2. Out of 5 teams 2 are heels and one of those is Shinning Stars.

With booking it this way you are giving the New Day a stronger heel run than their original one. You also have a huge feud in the making with New Day and Enzo/Big Cass. That’s why it’d be best to have Enzo/Cass go over and give them a strong Wrestlemania moment.

You’re also creating tension between two other teams (Sheamus/Cesaro and Anderson/Gallows) that has the fans attention and it doesn’t need the titles to further it. Without the titles driving the feud you can build these teams stronger based on character development. And it opens that door for them to work other programs after.

Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: The Smackdown Shuffle

WARNING: This is going to be a lengthy post because there are three matches I would change up by shifting and adding a few elements. The three matches I am going to discuss are Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton, AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon and Miz/Maryse vs Cena/Nikki. I believe by using these stars WWE can produce matches that would grab the fans attention and produce better storylines. WWE could do this by booking three matches in their places; John Cena vs AJ Styles for the WWE Title, Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton vs Luke Harper/Eric Rowen and finally The Miz vs Shane McMahon.

Authors FYI to the Readers: An “*” indicates the topic will be revisited in future articles.

Part I: Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton vs Luke Harper/Eric Rowen

First of all Orton would not have won Royal Rumble*. Instead Orton would have sacrificed himself in the Royal Rumble for Wyatt. Harper would have Wyatt lined up for an elimination with running move, Orton jumps in the way. Wyatt retaliates by eliminating Harper and then for history’s sake Lesner or Undertaker eliminate Wyatt as he is distracted by Harper attacking Orton on the outside. Orton would be kept off Smackdown for a week selling Harper’s attack at Royal Rumble. With Elimination Chamber coming up in two weeks Daniel Bryan would set up qualifying matches for four spots in the chamber match (the other 2 spots will be explained later on). Wyatt would face Harper in one of the matches the second week of qualifying matches. Wyatt goes over Harper clean but after the bell Harper attacks Wyatt with a chair. The lights go out and Orton flashes on to the screen in Wyatt form. When the lights come back on Orton is standing in the ring. Orton hits and RKO leading to Harper vs Orton at Elimination Chamber. Orton would go over Harper clean and it would be a fast match. As Orton poses in victory Harper is seen laughing on his way up the ramp.

In the Chamber match Wyatt would deliver a Sister Abigail to Cena and as he poses Styles steals the pin. Wyatt looses it on Styles destroying him with multiple Sister Abigails. As he delivers the last one the Wyatt glitch out hits the arena but instead of black and white it’s black and red only with sheep masks. Lights come back and In the ring standing on both sides of Wyatt is Harper and Rowen in black sheep masks. Orton runs down but can not get into the cage. Harper/Rowen hit a strong double team on Wyatt lights glitch again and they are gone leaving Styles laying on top of Wyatt, 1-2-3 Styles goes over Wyatt.

This sets up for Wyatt/Orton to call out Harper/Rowen. During the build up this gives Harper and Rowen mic time. They can slam Wyatt for bringing a snake (Orton) into the compound and into the family. This would bring in the possibility to keep the burning of the compound and grave of Sister Abigail but this time it would have Harper and Rowen do the damage. This would lead to Wrestlemania.

The Aftermath:

Wyatt would start the match and immediately he would be mauled by Harper and Rowen with continuing illegal double teams. Orton would attempt to come in but get stopped by the referee. Finally Wyatt gets to tag in Orton. We have a stare down between all 4. At this point Orton delivers an RKO to Wyatt with Harper and Rowen joining in on the mugging. All three men decimate Bray Wyatt. Referee calls it a no contest. Finishes with Orton on one knee holding his arms up for his pose with Harper and Rowen behind him. A red and black glitch of sheep masks being covered with vipers is shown. This finish would allow a face turn for Wyatt as he seeks his revenge. Also a strong heel turn for Orton. Finally a chance of a small push for Harper and Rowen as they fend off Wyatt and possibly leave Orton to fend for himself to go on their own.
Part II: John Cena vs AJ Styles – Iron Man WWE Title Match

So from a booking standpoint let’s keep the ending to their match at Royal Rumble as is seeing this storyline works well with John Cena and Ric Flair tied at 16 for the record.

On the Smackdown Live following Royal Rumble Styles would start the show. He would drop a rant on Cena getting lucky and getting a shot handed to him. So since Cena can just demand title shots he is going to do the same. Daniel Bryan comes out saying the Elimination Chamber is coming up and Cena will be defending the title there. Styles comes back saying since he is the ex champ he has a rematch clause. Bryan says he is right but that rematch will have to take place in the Chamber. This is where Bryan would also announce the qualifying matches for the remaining spots (Example: Wyatt vs Harper).

So as read in the above Cena, Wyatt and Styles would be the final three competitors. Styles steals the pin over Cena. Wyatt then gets jumped leading to Styles winning and walking away WWE Champ.

The next Smackdown Live starts out with Styles coming out. He preaches how no matter what John Cena and the Cenation (including Daniel Bryan) throw at him he will always be on top. Cena comes out says he is sick of this back and fourth with Styles and wants it finished. Styles replies saying it is finished. Cena says no because as you reminded us after Royal Rumble the former champ gets a rematch. Cena goes on to say that he doesn’t want any match because if he wins he will be the 17th time World Champion and he would take this time to give Ric Flair a plug for a crowd pop. To prove that he is worthy of the record he needs to know he is “The Man”. He proposes an Iron Man match. Styles agrees to the match on one condition; if he wins Cena can’t fight for the championship as long as he [Styles] is the champion. Cena agrees. Match is set as an Iron Man match.

The Aftermath:

The match would be very competitive for the first half. Slowly towards the end they each get a fall in. Match is tied at 1-1. Clock winding down. Cena showing frustration. Hits two Attitude Adjustments and Styles still kicks out. Cena goes for another but Styles counters into a Styles’ Clash. Roll up for a pin with Styles using the ropes but referee doesn’t see it. Styles up 2-1. Cena pops up starts questioning the pin. Styles lands a kick from behind. As Cena gets up Styles realizes there is only 30 seconds left ad ducks out of the ring. There is a chase in and out the ring. Cena is catching up to Styles causing a quick jump out of the ring Cena lands funny. Styles can’t believe it and quickly rolls into the ring. Cena can’t get to his feet as the referee checks on him. Clock finishes … 3-2-1. Styles has done it. At this point Styles would go after Cena focusing on the “injured” leg. This finish would accomplish a lot of things for the company;

1. It writes Cena off television.

2. Sets Styles up as a top heel. His constant taunting of killing “Cenation” alone would cause so much natural heat.

3. Gives opportunity to create new top faces for Styles to feud with such as NXT call-ups after Wrestlemania, Superstars traded in from RAW or even a newly babyfaced Bray Wyatt.

4. Finally with Cena waiting in the outside unable to challenge for the it allows for a cornucopia of creative opportunities to bring him back. IE: Money in the Bank winner waiting for his chance, Royal Rumble surprise entrant or even ground work for a possible heal turn*.
Part III: The Miz vs Shane McMahon

This match would organically come from Miz’s taunting of Daniel Bryan. Going into Elimination Chamber Miz would qualify by defeating Apollo Cruise from a dirty finish; either Maryse or even Ziggler in order to keep his feud with Apollo going on. In the Chamber match Miz would be in the final four after going on a huge run of offence. He would get into his mockery of Daniel Bryan. He would finish by applying the Yes Lock on John Cena would gain strength and stand up reversing it into and AA and pin The Miz.

Miz would cut a promo on the following Smackdown Live saying that for months he has been bullied and mistreated by management and we all know exactly who he means by management. He would make mention to being scrutinized by Daniel Bryan, forced into one sided Intercontinental Title matches after adding prestige to the title and finally having the “boss’ bro-in-law” costing him his chance of winning the WWE World Title and once again main eventing WRESTLEMANIA. The Miz finishes by saying he will be the one laughing last Daniel Bryan. This would lead to weeks of baiting Daniel Bryan with insults of his ties to Cena, how he quit, etc. Daniel Bryan would then put Miz in impossible matches. Finally when it seems Miz has had enough Bryan would be found in the back injured.

The Miz would come out the following week offering his condolences in a mockery (even possibly holding a funeral for Daniel Bryan’s Career). This would bring out Shane. Shane would call out Miz saying he knows it was him who attacked Daniel Bryan in the back and he is the reason why Daniel Bryan is laid up right now. He finishes by saying if Miz wanted a fight with management all he had to do was ask. Crowd pops. And Shane goes on to announce that the Miz will get his marquee match at Wrestlemania… with Shane McMahon. The Miz asks what happens if he doesn’t agree. Shane says I thought you would ask that so I have prepared this contract if you wanted to leave Smackdown. Miz laughs and says where do I sign. Then he realizes it’s for NXT. Looses his mind attacks Shane. Shane rallys back and sends him over the top. Shane rips up the contract and says I’ll see you at Wrestlemania.

The Aftermath:
I would have Shane do crazy spot in this match maybe even an elbow through the announce table or coast to coast. Miz would have a good spot where he runs through his Daniel Bryan moves and would even say he locks Shane into the Yes Lock. When Shane reaches out for the ropes after fighting for a long time have Maryse pull the ropes back enabling Shane to reach for them. Referee catches her and and sends Maryse to the back. Miz would let go at this point and starts yelling at the ref. Miz turns around Shane ducks a punch and turns it into a Skull Crushing Finale for the 1-2-3. Shane rolls out of the ring to Daniel Bryan waiting on stage and him and Shane start a Yes chant well Miz looses his mind in the ring. This gives Shane his final moment and hopefully would finish his run for awhile allowing Daniel Bryan to step in a stronger leadership role and continuation of the feud with Miz*.

Wrestlemania 33 Recreated: Austin Aries vs Neville for Cruiserweight Championship

So on Monday Night RAW (March 6th)  WWE started a program with Austin Aries and Neville (Video: RAW Aries Neville Standoff – March 6th). They gave us 2 matches with Austin Aries and then jumped in and  did a 5-man Elimination match this past Tuesday (March 14th) to set Austin Aries as Neville’s Wrestlemania opponent. That brings us to this point in time and I have the feeling that we will see these two get into the standard storyline from this point. In the next few weeks we will see them on opposite sides of the ring in tag matches, at one point Neville will interfere in one of Aries’ matches. This will create enough intrigue for one of the lower matches.
This is what I’d do;

I think WWE did a good job with opening this feud. Neville has already claimed the CW Title after dominating TJ Perkins and others within the division. He then defeated Rich Swann and Jack Gallagher. This only further proved his nickname “King of the Cruiserweights” to be true. Enter Austin Aries; a man who needs no introduction to the hardcore fan demographic but to the casual WWE fan he has been introduced as only a colour commentator.

So after Monday night RAW where Aries made his claim be a competitor in the division I would create a story where he proves himself worthy. I would keep his first match with Tony Neese as is. They had a little bit of a run in previously on WWE TV so it was good they had that as Aries first match. This week on RAW he faced Devari and won which was a good continuation.

This is where I turn off on my one story. Over the following weeks I would keep Aries in singles matches with wrestlers who have been previously linked to title contention; The Bryan Kendrick, Noam Dar, Drew Gulak. I would have each of these opponents come out first and make digs about Aries belonging behind a desk and not in the ring.

On the March 20th edition of RAW Neville would come out. He would say he is sick and tired of everyone thinking Aries is on his level. Make mention of Aries beating peasants that couldn’t lace Neville’s boots. Then he would say none of them even earned a shot to challenge the king. Jack Gallagher comes out and says that he has. He challenged the king and would love the opportunity to do it again. Aries interupts “I believe he was talking about me Jacky Boy. But you’re right you did have your shot and you wasted it. So why don’t we settle this like gentleman and shake hands and throw fists.” Leading to a match right then and there with Neville on commentary. Aries goes over in a hard fought match. Stands on the turnbuckle makes the belt motion at Neville and points at Wrestlemania. Neville stands up throws his headset and starts walking to the ring. He would get half way start laughing then shrug off the challenge and head to the back. On 205 the next night Aries fights TJ Perkins during the match Neville runs in while the ref is distracted aims to hit Aries misses and connects with TJ assisting Aries unintentionally. Finally we have the final RAW before WM33. Aries comes out for a match with Rich Swann, the man Neville defeated for the belt. Swann would take a hard bump off the top rope. As the ref checks on him Aries gets jumped by Neville on the outside. Ref misses this and starts the 10 count. 7-8-9… Aries jumps back in the ring. He rallys back and gets a clean pin over Swann. Grabs the mic and cuts a massive promo on Neville. Makes mention to him climbing through the ranks of the division, how he has beat all the challengers and every past champion. Makes a point to mention all the times Neville tried to derail him but he couldn’t. Now there is no one else in his way to the King’s throne and at Wrestlemania he will prove it. Backstage is shown with Neville leaving Mick Foley stops him and says since Neville doesn’t want to respond he will do it for him and makes the match.

The Aftermath:

I would have Neville go over at Wrestlemania with a shady finish. I would continue this feud over at least one more PPVs. I would have Aries start another feud probably with The BK because of some sort of involvement in his championship match. Aries finishes that feud on a strong note leading him to challenge Neville again at Summerslam and this time he goes over the King!
